The Enugu State Government has announced a restriction of movement across the six local government areas that make up the Enugu North Senatorial District ahead of Saturday’s bye-election.

The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, disclosed this in a public service announcement issued on Friday.

According to him, the directive will apply across the 102 electoral wards in the senatorial district.

“The Government of Enugu State wishes to inform the general public that the Enugu North Senatorial District By-Election will hold on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

“To ensure the peaceful, orderly, and credible conduct of the election, there will be a restriction of movement from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. across the six Local Government Areas and 102 electoral wards that make up the Enugu North Senatorial District,” the statement read.

The government, however, exempted officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, security personnel, accredited election observers, journalists and other persons authorised to perform election-related duties from the restriction.

It urged residents and eligible voters to conduct themselves peacefully and comply with electoral guidelines throughout the exercise.
