The Chairman of the Action Alliance (AA) in Anambra State, Chief Zulyke Chinwuba, has accused Governor Chukwuma Soludo of running a one-man government, alleging that the State House of Assembly has failed to perform its constitutional oversight responsibilities.

Speaking in Awka after the party’s state congress, Chinwuba claimed that the legislature has become subservient to the executive arm, arguing that there is little evidence of checks and balances in the state’s governance structure.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of both state and federal lawmakers representing Anambra, insisting that a healthy democracy requires constructive engagement and occasional disagreement between the executive and legislative arms of government.

The AA chairman also blamed vote-buying and voter inducement for weakening democratic accountability, urging citizens to vote based on conscience rather than financial incentives.

On his party’s prospects, Chinwuba described Action Alliance as a credible alternative to the ruling parties and expressed confidence that the party could make significant gains in future elections if the electoral process remains free and fair.

Assessing Governor Soludo’s administration, Chinwuba acknowledged that some achievements have been recorded but maintained that the government has fallen short in key areas. He argued that greater legislative independence would help improve governance and ensure better decision-making in the state.

The AA chairman further called for stronger democratic institutions and increased civic participation to deepen accountability and strengthen governance in Anambra State.
