The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Training and Development, Mr. Ifeanyi Uche, has commended the administration of Governor Peter Mbah for its significant investment in modern security infrastructure and manpower development aimed at strengthening public safety in Enugu State.

Speaking at the conclusion of a five-day security training programme themed “Building Smarter, Safer and Secure Communities,” the AIG praised the state’s deployment of advanced crime-fighting technologies, including a Command and Control Centre, surveillance systems, drones, and other digital security tools.

The training, organised by the Enugu State Government, brought together personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Enugu State Forest Guards, and the Neighbourhood Watch. It focused on cybersecurity, intelligence gathering, data analysis, and the use of technology in crime prevention and investigation.

AIG Uche noted that criminal activities have become increasingly technology-driven, making it essential for security agencies to adopt modern policing methods. He described Enugu as one of the few states effectively leveraging technology to combat crime and enhance public safety.

Officials at the event said the programme was designed to improve inter-agency collaboration, strengthen intelligence gathering, and equip security personnel with the skills needed to tackle emerging security threats.

Beneficiaries of the training described it as impactful, with some participants already applying the digital investigative techniques acquired to assist in ongoing security operations.

The initiative underscores the Enugu State Government’s commitment to building a technologically advanced security architecture and maintaining a safe environment for residents and investors.
