As voters in Enugu North Senatorial District headed to the polls for the by-election, the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ben Nwoye, called on residents to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid all forms of electoral violence.
Speaking with journalists in Nsukka, Nwoye urged voters across the six local government areas of the district to exercise their civic rights responsibly by voting for candidates of their choice and remaining peaceful throughout the electoral process.
He encouraged voters to stay at their polling units until votes are counted to ensure transparency and confidence in the outcome of the election.
The APC chieftain also appealed to candidates and political actors to adhere to electoral guidelines and allow security agencies to carry out their duties without interference.
Nwoye expressed confidence in the APC candidate, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, describing him as a credible and experienced leader capable of effectively representing the district at the National Assembly.
He further commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its preparations and commitment to conducting a peaceful, credible, and transparent election.
According to him, the APC has confidence in the electoral process and will accept the outcome of the poll.
The by-election is being held to fill the vacant Enugu North Senatorial seat following the death of former Senator Okey Ezea in November 2025.
Major contenders in the contest include candidates of the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alongside other participating political parties.
