The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) sector as part of efforts to drive inclusive economic growth, job creation and sustainable development across the state.

In a message to commemorate the 2026 International MSME Day, the Commissioner for Commerce, Mr. Nonso Chukwuma Ebonwu, described MSMEs as the backbone of the economy, applauding entrepreneurs for their resilience, innovation and critical role in improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities.

Speaking on this year’s theme, “The Future Generation of MSMEs,” Ebonwu said the global observance provides an opportunity to reinforce support for entrepreneurs through policies and programmes that equip them with the knowledge, skills and resources needed to build resilient, innovative and globally competitive businesses.

The commissioner noted that the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo has continued to implement strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening Anambra’s MSME ecosystem through capacity building, business-friendly reforms, improved market access and strategic partnerships.

According to him, while access to finance remains vital for business growth, long-term success also depends on sound corporate governance, continuous skills development and timely access to information that enables entrepreneurs to seize emerging opportunities and remain competitive.

Ebonwu urged business owners, entrepreneurs and aspiring investors across the state to take advantage of the various government support programmes and opportunities available to build sustainable enterprises, create employment and contribute to the state’s economic transformation.

He reaffirmed the Soludo administration’s commitment to policies that promote entrepreneurship, attract investment and strengthen the MSME sector, expressing confidence that ongoing reforms will further position Anambra as Nigeria’s leading destination for commerce, innovation and industrial development.
