The Democratic Republic of Congo became the fourth African country to be eliminated from the 2026 World Cup.

The Leopards lost 2-1 to England on Wednesday evening, despite taking a shock lead in the Round of 32 clash.

Brian Cipenga’s shot beat Jordan Pickford at the near post to put the Congolese in front.

Although Harry Kane was denied a controversial penalty, the Bayern Munich striker scored two stunning goals to win the match.

England will now face co-hosts Mexico for a place in the quarter-final.

DR Congo head back home along with Tunisia, Cote d’Ivoire and South Africa.
