The race for the 2027 Anambra South Senatorial seat gathered momentum over the weekend as members of the De Imperial Philanthropic Family (DIPF) publicly declared their support for the senatorial aspiration of businessman and philanthropist, Ebuka Onunkwo.
The endorsement took place at Onunkwo’s residence in Ihembosi, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, where members of the philanthropic organisation, made up of business leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals from across the South-East, pledged their support for his ambition.
Speaking during the gathering, the President of DIPF, Darlington Nwabunike, described Onunkwo as a humanitarian and community development advocate whose record of philanthropy has impacted many lives.
According to him, the group believes that electing leaders with proven records of service and community development would contribute to greater progress in the senatorial district.
Members of the organisation pledged to mobilise support for Onunkwo’s aspiration across the seven local government areas that make up Anambra South Senatorial District, expressing confidence in his leadership capacity.
Several prominent members of the organisation, including business executives and community leaders from different parts of the South-East, were in attendance at the event.
Chief Ebuka Onunkwo currently serves as the Chairman of the Commanders Council of the De Imperial Philanthropic Family (DIPF), an organisation known for its charitable initiatives, including scholarship programmes, school projects and other community development interventions across the South-East.
The endorsement comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather pace, with aspirants across political parties consulting stakeholders and seeking wider support.
