The Uche Ogbuagu Lovendar Foundation has visited the School for the Deaf in Ofekata Orodo, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, donating relief materials and pledging support following public concern over the deteriorating condition of the institution.

Leading the delegation, Pastor Chiemela Rowland said the foundation’s intervention was prompted by a viral video highlighting the school’s poor infrastructure and living conditions. He disclosed that the foundation’s founder, Uche Ogbuagu, directed an immediate assessment of the facility to enable swift humanitarian assistance.

The foundation donated mattresses, pillows and other relief items, while assuring the students and staff of continued support.

Speaking during the visit, the founder’s Chief Press Secretary, Ezinwa Obinna Uchenna, described the intervention as a humanitarian effort rather than a political activity, urging individuals, organisations and security agencies to support the school and improve the safety of its students.

School officials and students, represented by their teachers, appealed for greater government intervention, citing inadequate security, poor sanitation, lack of electricity, dilapidated buildings and other challenges affecting learning and welfare.

They commended the foundation for its timely intervention and called on both government and well-meaning Nigerians to support efforts to improve conditions at the special needs institution.
