Grundtvig International Secondary School, Oba, Anambra State, has emerged as one of Nigeria’s top three schools at the 2026 National Mathematics Festival, securing national recognition and a cash prize of ₦750,000 for its outstanding academic performance.

The school’s remarkable achievement was spearheaded by JS1 student, Chijindu Agu, who scored a perfect 100 per cent to win a Gold Medal and emerge as the overall best candidate in the Junior Category nationwide.

Several other students of the school also won Gold Medals at the competition, including Richmond Adinnu, Akachukwu Onuigbo, Destiny Okeke, Prince Ndukwe, Kenechukwu Okafor, Obinna Imo, Chisomebi Nwaelu, Vincent Afunanya, Celine Obasi, Favour Emeka-Edokwe, David Onwuegbuna and Ifunanya Offorkile.

The school’s impressive performance was further strengthened by several Silver and Bronze Medal winners, helping to secure its place among the nation’s top-performing schools.

Grundtvig also recorded outstanding success at the African English Olympiad, where Victor Enechukwu, Chimamanda Nnaekwue and Great Ahamefula won Gold Medals, while several other students earned Silver Medals.

Commending the students, the school management congratulated all the medal winners for their hard work, discipline and academic excellence, while appreciating members of staff and parents for their unwavering support.

The management noted that the achievements reaffirm the school’s commitment to academic excellence and its vision of producing globally competitive students capable of excelling on both national and international stages.
