Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has directed the immediate rehabilitation of Ibeama Primary School in Ndume Otuka, Umuahia North Local Government Area, the alma mater of Nigeria’s first military Head of State, the late General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, as well as the access road leading to his ancestral home.
The governor gave the directive during a civic reception held in honour of the Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Austin Nmeregini, at the school premises.
Responding to requests from community leaders, Governor Otti instructed the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Otumchere Oti, to inspect the road leading to the late military leader’s residence and submit a report for its immediate rehabilitation.
He also directed the Chairman of the Abia State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) to commence the process of rehabilitating the historic primary school without delay.
Governor Otti said the intervention aligns with his administration’s commitment to upgrading public school infrastructure and expanding access to quality education across the 17 local government areas of the state.
He assured residents that the school would benefit from the ongoing statewide rehabilitation of public educational facilities, stressing that no community would be left behind in the government’s development agenda.
The governor also appreciated the people of Ndume Otuka for their continued support and reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to deliver more infrastructure and people-oriented projects across Abia State.
The event was attended by top government officials, lawmakers and political stakeholders, including former Senatorial candidate, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, and the member representing Isiala Ngwa North/Isiala Ngwa South Federal Constituency, Ginger Onwusibe.
