The Manager and Principal of St. Charles College, Onitsha, Rev. Fr. Gabriel Ositadimma Anochilionye, has been named School Administrator of the Year by the organisers of the Anambra Man of the Year (AMTY) Awards in recognition of his exceptional leadership and outstanding contributions to education.
The organisers said the award follows the remarkable transformation recorded at the institution since Rev. Fr. Anochilionye assumed office in September 2024, with major improvements in academic standards, infrastructure and school administration.
Among the achievements credited to his administration are the construction of two modern hostel blocks, the establishment of a fully equipped ICT centre for WAEC, NECO and JAMB computer-based examinations, installation of CCTV cameras across the school, reconstruction of the refectory, beautification of the school environment, rebuilding sections of the perimeter fence and interlocking of the school premises.
He also introduced Chinese language and robotics into the school’s curriculum, upgraded the school choir with modern musical instruments and strengthened academic excellence, discipline and moral formation among students.
According to the organisers, his leadership has created a more conducive learning environment while encouraging students to participate in national and international academic competitions, quizzes and other extracurricular activities.
A native of Awka-Etiti in Anambra State, Rev. Fr. Anochilionye holds bachelor’s degrees in Philosophy and Theology from the Pontifical Urban University, Rome, as well as bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in Education from the Pontifical Salesian University, Rome.
Ordained a Roman Catholic priest on August 14, 2004, he has spent nearly 22 years in the education sector, previously serving as Principal and Manager of St. Anthony’s Comprehensive Secondary School, Umudioka-Dunukofia, and later heading Our Lady’s International Academy, Umuoji.
The School Administrator of the Year award recognises his commitment to educational excellence, innovation, infrastructure development and the holistic development of young people in Anambra State.
