Florence Vandi, a 22-year-old woman from Michika LGA in Adamawa State, tragically took her life reportedly in response to her boyfriend’s demise.
Allegedly consuming a substance suspected to be ‘Otapiyapiya,’ an insect killer, Florence’s actions led to her untimely death, as confirmed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nguroje, upon receiving the report on December 12.
The deceased, residing in Viniklang, Girei LGA, apparently chose this drastic step in response to the passing of her boyfriend, Nuhu Boniface, who succumbed to an illness while undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Sources revealed that Florence worked as a health worker at the Girei Primary Health Care Centre up until her demise.
The community has been deeply saddened by this incident, prompting the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, to express profound regret over the tragic sequence of events.
CP Babatola advised against taking matters into one’s own hands and urged the public to report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods to law enforcement agencies.
