Croatian midfield maestro Luka Modrić will remain at AC Milan for another season after agreeing a one-year contract extension that keeps him at the San Siro until June 2027. The renewal comes after weeks of speculation over the 40-year-old’s future.

AC Milan moved swiftly to retain the services of Modrić following an impressive debut campaign in Serie A, where the veteran midfielder played a key leadership role both on and off the pitch. Club officials, including head coach Ruben Amorim and senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimović, were instrumental in convincing the Croatian to continue with the Rossoneri.

According to reports, Modrić will continue on a deal worth around €3.5 million per season, plus performance-related bonuses. The former Ballon d’Or winner is expected to play a key role in Milan’s bid to return to the UEFA Champions League while mentoring the club’s younger midfield talents.

The renewal follows a period of reflection after Croatia’s FIFA World Cup campaign, with Modrić ultimately deciding that he still has more to offer at the highest level. His experience and leadership are expected to remain central to Milan’s ambitions in Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Europa League next season.
