Stakeholders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Enugu State have reaffirmed their support for the State Working Committee (SWC) led by Dr. Johnpaul Anih, while warning against attempts to destabilise the party ahead of future elections.
The resolution was reached during an expanded meeting of the party’s State Working Committee, stakeholders, candidates and members, where participants commended the current leadership for repositioning the NDC through grassroots mobilisation and organisational reforms.
Speaking after the meeting, the Chairman of the party in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, Hon. Jonathan Ogbu, described the Anih-led executive as the only leadership produced through a valid congress monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He alleged that some individuals were making efforts to create instability within the party and warned that such actions would be resisted. Ogbu further credited the current leadership with strengthening the party’s presence and visibility across Enugu State.
Also speaking, the NDC Chairmen in Igboeze North and Aninri Local Government Areas, Hon. Kingsley Ape and Hon. Stephen Ajah, said the achievements of the present leadership have positioned the party to effectively participate in the forthcoming local government elections.
They maintained that the State Working Committee enjoys the confidence and support of party members across the 17 local government areas of the state and cautioned that any attempt to alter the existing leadership could undermine the party’s unity.
The stakeholders also expressed concern over recent developments within the party at the national level, urging the national leadership to resolve internal issues in line with the party’s constitution and democratic principles.
They called on members to remain united and committed to strengthening the party, while pledging their continued support for the Dr. Johnpaul Anih-led State Working Committee in advancing the NDC’s political objectives in Enugu State.
