The Imo State chapter of the Action Peoples Party (APP) has declared its readiness to participate in the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence in its chances of securing elective positions across the state.
State Chairman of the party, Ernest Njesi, made the declaration during a media briefing in Owerri, stating that the APP has concluded preparations for the polls and remains optimistic of a successful outing.
According to Njesi, the party has presented candidates for all major elective offices in the state, including three senatorial candidates, 10 House of Representatives candidates and 27 candidates for the Imo State House of Assembly.
He said the candidates have been registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and are set to participate in the 2027 elections.
The APP chairman also disclosed that the party would intensify grassroots mobilisation across communities in Imo State to educate voters on its programmes and encourage public support ahead of the elections.
Njesi, however, condemned the alleged attack on the party’s secretariat and the reported destruction of its campaign billboards, alleging that the incidents were carried out by political opponents.
He maintained that the alleged acts of intimidation would not deter the party from participating in the electoral process and called on political actors to embrace issue-based campaigns rather than resort to violence.
The APP reaffirmed its commitment to a peaceful, credible and democratic electoral process as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
