Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin is among a group of billionaires approached to join a consortium seeking to acquire a minority stake in Liverpool Football Club, according to a report by Sky News.

Sky News’ Mark Kleinman reports that Saverin has been invited to participate in the investment group exploring the purchase of a significant minority stake in the Premier League club.

If Saverin formally joins the consortium, he could be investing alongside Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who has also been linked with the group. However, the report notes that the status of discussions involving Saverin remains unclear.

Sources familiar with the matter cautioned that while talks have taken place, there is no certainty that Saverin will ultimately become part of the investor group.

Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), have previously indicated they are open to attracting strategic investment to support the club’s long-term growth, although no agreement has been announced regarding the reported consortium.
