Nigerian singer Peter Okoye of the defunct music group, P-Square, has opened up on the strained relationship between his wife, Lola, and his family, revealing that his mother later accepted her despite earlier rejections.
Peter disclosed that his mother was moved by his emotional pain and decided to intervene by speaking with his brothers to apologise to him.
“My mom felt my p@in and said that she would talk to my brothers to ask them to apologize to me.”
According to the singer, while some members of his family eventually apologised, others refused to do so despite their mother’s appeal.

Peter also claimed that contrary to the impression created by some narratives, his mother had developed a relationship with Lola before their marriage.
He said his mother had already embraced Lola as a member of the family and referred to her affectionately before they became husband and wife.
According to Peter, “Before I got married to my wife, my mom was already addressing Lola as ‘OUR WIFE.’”
The singer alleged that a false narrative was created suggesting that Lola and his mother never had a cordial relationship.
Peter’s revelation comes amid renewed public discussions surrounding the Okoye family’s long-standing disagreements and the personal issues that have affected the relationship between him and some members of his family.
The singer maintained that the reality of his mother’s relationship with Lola was different from what had been portrayed publicly, insisting that his wife was accepted by his family before their marriage.
