Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has inaugurated the newly constituted All Progressives Congress (APC) State Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, charging members to take the party’s campaign to every ward, polling unit and community across the state.
Uzodimma gave the charge on Monday at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Centre, Owerri, while inaugurating the campaign council.
The governor said the council’s primary responsibility was to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
He urged members to regard their appointments as a form of national service requiring discipline, unity and sustained grassroots engagement.
According to him, campaign activities must extend beyond major urban centres to the local government, ward and polling-unit levels.
“Our campaign council must establish an active presence at the local government, ward and polling-unit levels. Candidates across all levels—from the National Assembly to the House of Assembly—must operate as a unified team to communicate our party’s transformative achievements,” Uzodimma said.
The governor also reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening APC’s political structures across Imo State in support of the Tinubu administration and the party’s electoral objectives in 2027.
Speaking at the event, APC National Vice Chairman, Dr Ijeomah Arodiogbu, said the campaign council had a broad mandate to secure victory for the party across all elective positions, from the presidency to the State House of Assembly.
“The mandate before us is clear: to secure victory in the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State Assembly elections,” Arodiogbu said.
He cautioned members against internal divisions and personal ambitions, stressing the need for unity in pursuing the party’s electoral goals.
The Imo State APC Chairman, Austin Onyedebelu, directed members of the council to commence door-to-door mobilisation across the state’s 27 local government areas.
He urged them to engage voters at the grassroots and highlight what the party described as the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, security, healthcare, education and economic development.
Responding on behalf of the campaign council, Chris Okewulonu assured the party leadership that members were ready to commence work immediately.
Okewulonu said the calibre and experience of the council members would strengthen the party’s grassroots mobilisation efforts and help maximise voter participation in the 2027 elections.
The inauguration marks the commencement of APC’s intensified grassroots mobilisation efforts in Imo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
