A heartwarming anomaly unfolded in a Croatian hospital where twin girls made their dramatic entrance into the world just minutes apart but on different calendar years, marking an extraordinary start to the new year.
In an astounding turn of events, one of the girls entered the world at 23:59 (2259 GMT) on December 31, while her sister arrived a mere minute after midnight on January 1, captivating the hospital staff in the coastal town of Split, an official told AFP.
Describing this rare occurrence, Damir Roje, head of the hospital’s perinatology department, expressed awe at this extraordinary event.
“It is really an unusual situation,” head of the hospital’s perinatology department Damir Roje told local media.
He revealed that while he’d witnessed twins born on separate days before, this was the first instance in his professional career where twins entered the world on different years.
The minute variance in their birth times means the family will celebrate one daughter’s birthday on New Year’s Eve and the other on New Year’s Day, creating an unforgettable and joyous beginning to each year for this remarkable family.
