Tony Elumelu’s Heirs Group added ₦131.50 billion on paper on Thursday after Seplat Energy closed at ₦16,000, up ₦1,092.20 or 7.33%. The 120.4 million-share holding is now worth ₦1.93 trillion.
Heirs Energies and Heirs Holdings own 20.07% of Seplat, the largest disclosed stake. Elumelu is the group’s ultimate beneficial owner. Yesterday that block was worth ₦1.79 trillion. Today it is ₦1.93 trillion.
Heirs bought the shares from France’s Maurel & Prom on 31 December 2025 for about $496 million. At Thursday’s close the same stake is worth about $1.45 billion. That is more than double the dollar cost in under nine months.
Across Elumelu’s main disclosed NGX holdings, the listed book is about ₦2.42 trillion:
Seplat — ₦1.93 trillion
UBA — about ₦287.5 billion
Transcorp — about ₦113.8 billion
United Capital — about ₦80.0 billion
Africa Prudential — about ₦10.9 billion
Seplat is about 80% of that listed total.
Other lines barely moved. UBA closed ₦45.55, a paper drop of about ₦2.8 billion on his bank block. The net listed move today is still about ₦129 billion, almost all from Seplat.
From ₦11,363.90 on 30 June to ₦16,000 today, the same 120.4 million Seplat shares have added about ₦557 billion.
