A fire outbreak involving a fuel laden tanker has been reported at Pillars Energy Filling Station near the Stock Exchange in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The incident occurred on Monday, September 28, 2026, prompting an immediate response from the Anambra State Fire Service.
According to a statement from the Fire Service Media and Publicity Unit, a distress call was received at about 9:20 p.m., after which firefighters were mobilised to the scene with two firefighting trucks.
The firefighters commenced operations upon arrival, working to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the petroleum facility and surrounding areas.
The fire service said no lives were lost in the incident.
Although the situation was brought under control, firefighters remained at the scene to conduct safety checks and monitor the area to guard against possible re ignition.
The Fire Service urged residents and motorists in the area to remain calm and cooperate with emergency personnel by keeping a safe distance and allowing them to carry out their operations without obstruction.
The cause of the fire had not been disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
