Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has played down suggestions that he could benefit from any sanctions against Manchester City F.C. over the club’s charges.
Asked whether he was hoping to retrospectively receive additional Premier League titles if City were sanctioned, Klopp laughed before making it clear that he has not been focused on the possibility.
Klopp said he had heard about the case but had not spent much time thinking about it. He stressed that he would simply wait for the outcome rather than anticipate any changes to the historical league standings.
The former Liverpool boss also praised Guardiola and Manchester City for their football, describing them as a high-quality opponent during his time competing against the club.
Klopp acknowledged that any sanctions would be a matter for the relevant authorities and said he would have no involvement in whatever decision is eventually made.
He also rejected the idea that he was preparing to claim additional titles, insisting that he remains satisfied with what Liverpool achieved on the pitch.
Klopp added that his teams had fought hard for their success and that he could not comment further because he was not familiar with the details of the case and had no interest in speculating about them.
His comments underline his position that Liverpool’s achievements should be viewed through what happened on the pitch, rather than through potential outcomes from Manchester City’s ongoing case.
