The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Abia State, Dr. Kelechi Anosike, has promised to establish a monthly “Meet Your Governor” forum where residents would have direct access to the governor and relevant government and security officials if elected.
Anosike made the pledge on Monday, October 5, 2026, at his campaign office in Umuahia when members of the Kelechi Anosike G’eme Karia Movement, one of his support groups, visited to brief him on their activities.
The PDP candidate said his proposed administration would prioritise accessibility and people centred governance, arguing that residents should not face unnecessary barriers in presenting their concerns to the government.
According to Anosike, the proposed forum would provide a platform for residents to present complaints and cases of alleged injustice, oppression and intimidation directly to the government.
He said the forum could hold at the Michael Okpara Auditorium or another suitable large venue, with the governor, deputy governor, police, Department of State Services (DSS) and other relevant officials present to listen to complaints and seek solutions.
Anosike also said his administration would promote economic empowerment, including his proposed microfinance bank in Aba, which he said would provide interest-free loans to residents.
He further pledged that empowerment initiatives would extend across the state’s wards, describing his proposed approach to governance as welfare-oriented.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Kelechi Anosike G’eme Karia Movement, Kelechi Nwosu, said the group had established structures across the state’s 17 local government areas, 184 wards and 4,006 polling units.
Nwosu said the group was targeting more than 80,000 votes for Anosike and planning a one million man march across the 17 LGAs, beginning from Umuahia North. These figures and plans were presented by the support group and were not independently verified.
The group also requested a branded campaign vehicle, office accommodation and inclusion in the State Campaign Council.
Responding, Anosike commended the group for its commitment and promised to provide a branded Sienna vehicle and office accommodation.
The PDP candidate also expressed confidence in his campaign ahead of the February 6, 2027 governorship election, saying his team was determined to regain control of the state.
The proposals form part of Anosike’s campaign agenda as political parties and candidates continue preparations for the 2027 Abia governorship election.
