Samuel Ortom, former Governor of Benue State, made a resounding declaration, confirming that the PDP G5 alliance would throw its weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027.

Speaking at a luncheon hosted by Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, at his residence in Port Harcourt, Ortom reiterated the group’s unwavering commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s candidacy.

He expressed no regrets in backing the President during the last 2023 presidential election.

The PDP G5, comprising former governors Okezie Ikpeazu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Nyesom Wike, Governor Seyi Makinde, alongside Ortom, had previously rejected Atiku Abubakar as the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in favor of endorsing a southern candidate ahead of the last presidential poll.

With President Tinubu’s victory in the previous election, Wike’s acceptance into Tinubu’s administration, and the unsuccessful senatorial bids of Ortom, Ikpeazu, and Ugwuanyi, Ortom asserted the G5’s determination to rally behind Tinubu for a second term.

He stated, “Our leader, Nyesom Wike, has already made a declaration that in 2027, we are supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We have nowhere to go because that is what Nigerians believe. Even the past administration that took Nigeria from top to bottom, we allowed them to work for eight years.”

“So, why can’t a seasoned administrator in the person of President Tinubu rule us for eight years?” He asked.
