Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr Patrice Motsepe has reinforced his commitment to developing football across the continent by increasing annual financial support to each of the organisation’s 54 Member Associations from $200,000 to $700,000.

The increased funding is aimed at strengthening national football federations, improving their financial stability and supporting the growth of the game across Africa.

The rise represents an additional $500,000 per association annually, more than tripling the previous allocation.

The financial boost is expected to help national federations improve their operations, invest in football development programmes and strengthen their capacity to manage competitions and other administrative responsibilities.

The initiative also highlights CAF’s focus on supporting its member associations as they work to improve football structures and create better opportunities for players and other stakeholders.

With all 54 associations covered by the increase, the revised allocation amounts to $37.8 million annually, compared with the previous $10.8 million, if the full amount is distributed to every association.

The move marks a significant financial commitment to African football, with the impact expected to depend on how effectively the funds are managed and invested in sustainable development across the continent.
