The Safe Tent Care Initiative has provided essential school supplies to 1,000 top performing pupils from 50 public schools across Abia State as part of efforts to promote academic excellence and support children in underserved communities.

The intervention was carried out under the second edition of the initiative’s annual Back to School Programme, themed “Raising the Standards, Rewarding Excellence,” with particular attention to pupils in rural communities.

The organisers said the programme aims to encourage academic achievement while easing the burden of preparing children for a new academic session.

They also expressed the ambition to expand the initiative to reach more than 2,000 pupils in future editions, with a continued focus on rural areas where access to educational support may be limited.

The initiative commended the Abia State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), led by its Chairman, Mrs Ezihe Lydia Onuoha, for partnering with the organisation to support the programme.

During the initiative, pupils were encouraged to study diligently, remain disciplined, and pursue their aspirations with confidence.

The organisers also acknowledged the contributions of teachers and parents, praising their commitment to the education and development of the children.

Special recognition was given to public school pupils who represented Abia State and Nigeria at the 2026 International Schools Debate Championship in Doha, Qatar, where they emerged victorious.

Their achievement was celebrated as an example of the potential of pupils in public schools when given the opportunity and support to excel.

The Safe Tent Care Initiative reaffirmed its commitment to promoting education and creating opportunities for children to reach their full potential.

The programme further highlighted the importance of partnerships between non-governmental organisations and government agencies in improving access to educational resources and rewarding academic excellence.
