The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ebonyi State, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, has pledged to attract approximately ₦2 trillion in private sector investment to the state within six months if elected governor in the 2027 general elections.
Odii made the commitment during an interview on Arise Television’s The Morning Show on Thursday, where he outlined plans to attract investors, improve the business environment and expand economic opportunities across the state.
The businessman attributed his investment target to his extensive network of business associates and investors, claiming to have more than 2,000 business contacts who could be encouraged to invest in Ebonyi if favourable conditions were established.
He said his proposed administration would introduce policies aimed at creating an enabling environment for businesses to operate, expand and generate employment.
According to Odii, Ebonyi has considerable investment potential in sectors such as solid minerals, real estate, manufacturing, hospitality and industrial processing.
He argued that investors would be more willing to establish businesses in the state if government policies supported profitability, business growth and long-term economic stability.
During the interview, the PDP candidate was questioned about how he intended to attract ₦2 trillion in investment within six months and whether his previous business activities demonstrated experience in mobilising capital on that scale.
In response, Odii cited more than two decades of business experience, explaining that he began as a small-scale trader before expanding into manufacturing raw materials, chemical trading, construction and real estate.
He identified himself as chairman and chief executive officer of Orient Global Group, which he said operates in manufacturing, processing and the trading of industrial and oil and gas chemicals.
He also mentioned Optimus Holdings, which he said is involved in construction, real estate and related business activities.
Odii maintained that his experience in the private sector had given him an understanding of investors’ expectations and the policies needed to encourage them to commit capital to new markets.
The governorship candidate identified solid minerals as one of Ebonyi’s major economic opportunities, alongside manufacturing, property development and hospitality.
He also suggested that businesses already operating in commercial centres such as Lagos could be encouraged to expand into Ebonyi if the state offered suitable investment conditions.
Odii said his proposed strategy would focus on attracting private capital to productive sectors, creating employment opportunities and expanding the state’s economic base.
However, the ₦2 trillion target remains a campaign pledge, and details of the proposed policies, specific investment commitments and implementation framework were not provided in the information available for this report.
The pledge comes as political parties and their candidates begin outlining their economic priorities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
