The Anambra State Government has finalised its 2027 Annual Operational Plan (AOP) for the health sector, with renewed emphasis on strengthening healthcare delivery and prioritising HIV prevention, testing and treatment across the state.

The plan brings together the activities, targets and resources of various health agencies and development partners under a coordinated framework aimed at improving healthcare services and ensuring effective implementation of health programmes.

The Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA) participated in the development, harmonisation and dissemination of the operational plan, ensuring that critical HIV interventions are adequately incorporated.

These interventions include HIV prevention, testing, treatment and efforts to eliminate mother to child transmission of the virus.

The one day dissemination meeting provided stakeholders with an opportunity to review the final document, clarify institutional responsibilities and strengthen collaboration towards effective implementation, monitoring and accountability.

The 2027 Annual Operational Plan is aligned with the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII) and the Sector Wide Approach (SWAp), which promote coordinated planning, budgeting and reporting across the country’s health sector.

ANSACA reaffirmed its commitment to working with the Anambra State Ministry of Health and development partners to implement the plan, strengthen the state’s HIV response and advance progress towards the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets.

The agency also reiterated its commitment to contributing to the global goal of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.

The initiative supports Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s vision of building a healthy, liveable and prosperous Anambra State through improved healthcare delivery and strategic public health interventions.

ANSACA urged residents to prioritise regular HIV testing, know their status and take appropriate steps to protect their health and that of others.
