President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigeria’s Flamingos to give their best when they face Japan in the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The Flamingos booked their place in the final after defeating Brazil 3-1 in their semi-final clash in Rabat on Wednesday night.
Akeem Busari’s side will now aim to make history by becoming the first African nation to win the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Ahead of the final, Tinubu urged the players to maintain the determination and fighting spirit that had taken them to the last stage of the competition.
I encourage you to approach the final with the same fighting spirit and belief that have brought you this far. I have confidence in your ability to make history by winning the coveted world title,” the President said in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Nigeria will face Japan at Pitch 3 of the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat on Saturday.
The final is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. Nigerian time, as the Flamingos seek to crown their impressive campaign with a historic world title.
