Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary, Mohsen Rezaei, has issued a fresh warning to the United States, mocking President Donald Trump’s administration over its recent political setbacks and threatening a devastating response if Washington launches another military attack against Tehran.

Rezaei delivered the message in a post on X on Saturday, November 7, questioning who in Washington should receive Iran’s warning amid what he described as growing instability within the US leadership.

“You lost the war and the election. Vance has conceded, Rubio is heading for the exit, Hegseth is about to be fired, and the CENTCOM commander is now a podcaster!” he wrote.

He continued: “So, who exactly in Washington do we need to get this message across to? Start a war, and you’ll face a devastating response.”

The Iranian official’s comments come days after the Republican Party suffered significant losses in the US midterm elections, with Democrats securing control of both chambers of Congress.

US Vice President JD Vance previously attributed the Republican defeat partly to the ongoing conflict with Iran, acknowledging that the war had become a major political liability for the administration.

Rezaei also took aim at US military leadership, referring to reports that Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth could lose his position and highlighting the launch of a podcast by Admiral Brad Cooper, the head of US Central Command (CENTCOM).

Cooper’s new programme, titled Inside CENTCOM, debuted on November 5, attracting criticism over its launch while American forces remain involved in military operations in the Middle East.

The remarks come amid renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent another escalation between Washington and Tehran. Vance has reportedly sent a letter to Rezaei proposing further discussions aimed at resolving the conflict.

Despite the diplomatic developments, Rezaei’s latest statement signals that Tehran continues to warn against renewed military action, insisting that any further attack on Iran would trigger a severe response.
