A tragic incident happened on Monday evening along Airport Road, Lugbe Abuja, as a fatal accident resulted in the untimely death of one of Abuja’s distinguished female On Air Personalities (OAPs), Deborah Ohamara, who hailed from Abia state.
According to reports, another individual sustained mild injuries in the devastating collision.
The accident occurred along the outbound lane of the Umaru Musa Yaradua Expressway, commonly known as Airport Road, causing a substantial disruption in traffic flow in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, eyewitnesses told MUK TV
It is reported that the collision involved a gravel-carrying truck and two smaller vehicles.
Deborah Ohamara, a well-known radio presenter associated with Nigerian Info, 91.5 FM, Abuja, lost her life in the tragic incident.
As the time of this news report, the identity of the injured individual has yet to be disclosed.
Ohamara, affectionately known for anchoring the radio’s weekly early morning show, ‘Sunday Morning Sweet With Debby,’ had been a dedicated and familiar voice on the airwaves.
Described as a brilliant broadcaster by her employers, Nigerian Info, the radio station confirmed the ugly news through an official statement, stating, “We sadly announce the passing of Deborah Ohamara (Debbie) a brilliant and loved broadcaster with Nigeria Info Abuja. We opened a condolence register below.”
In the aftermath of the accident, the expressway experienced significant congestion, impacting commuters. Responding swiftly, officials from the Directorate of Road Traffic Services, the Federal Road Safety Corps, and local police worked diligently to restore order and manage the aftermath of this heartbreaking accident.
