The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken action against two pizza outlets in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for their use of expired dough blend seasoning, as revealed by the FCT Director of the agency, Ozigis Abdulsalam.
In a statement released in Abuja on Friday, Abdulsalam disclosed that NAFDAC, acting on intelligence, conducted inspections on pizza outlets and uncovered the use of expired dough blend seasoning in two establishments.
The outlets were also found to be utilizing expired deep ham slices in their pizza preparation processes.
Abdulsalam emphasized that such practices not only violate best standards but also pose significant risks to food safety, potentially leading to public health concerns.
The seized ingredients were confiscated, and the company responsible faced penalties.
Abdulsalam stated that the company must provide an undertaking promising not to engage in such negligent practices in the future.
