Former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu, has officially bid farewell to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), embracing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State.

“I have officially joined the APC by registering as a member of Isiama ward,” Uchendu declared in a candid chat with newsmen.

Commending the party leadership for his smooth integration, Uchendu hailed the commendable performance of APC’s federal lawmakers from Abia State, namely Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (APC, Abia North), and Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu (APC, Bende).

Encouraging fellow elected officials to follow suit, Uchendu remarked, “What I have seen here is quite impressive. This is unprecedented in the history of Abia State; federal lawmakers building schools, constructing roads, reconstructing schools, distributing educational materials, and sponsoring people on scholarships to study medicine and surgery in South America.”

“I urge other elected lawmakers to emulate Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu in attracting development projects to their constituencies. During my tenure in the House of Assembly, I prioritized the welfare of my constituents in Ohafia South State Constituency,” he added.

Expressing his enthusiasm for his new political home, Uchendu rallied others to join the APC fold, extending gratitude to the Chairman of APC in Ohafia L.G.A., the Chairman of Isiama ward, and other party leaders for their support.

Formerly a member of APGA, Uchendu switched allegiance to the PDP on May 24th, 2017, where he was elected to represent Ohafia South in the 6th Abia State House of Assembly.

He ascended to the role of deputy speaker in the 7th Abia State House of Assembly but faced impeachment allegations following his involvement in the impeachment of Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji.
