The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the inconclusiveness of the Governorship Primary Election held in Edo state last Saturday.
Following an emergency meeting lasting about three hours on Tuesday, APC spokesperson Felix Morka stated, “The NWC resolves that the Edo State governorship primary election has not been completed and has now fixed Thursday, February 22, 2024, for the completion of the APC primary election process.”
Further media inquiries were declined by Morka after the announcement.
The primary election had seen conflicting declarations from local government returning officers, with Anamero Dekeri, a serving member of the House of Representatives, declared the winner by one group, while another declared federal lawmaker Dennis Idahosa as the winner.
Meanwhile, Senator Monday Okpebholo was declared the winner by yet another returning officer.
All three “candidates” have demanded that the NWC issue them a Certificate of Return, adding another layer of complexity to the situation.
