After a keenly contested re-run election, Senator Monday Okpebholo has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries in Edo State.
Securing a total of 12,433 votes, Okpebholo triumphed over 11 other aspirants, solidifying his position as the preferred candidate for the party’s gubernatorial ticket.
The re-run election was necessitated after the initial contest was deemed inconclusive by the party leadership. Senator Okpebholo, previously one of three winners from the cancelled shadow poll held last Saturday, has now clinched the victory following the collation of results from all 18 Local Government Areas.
The official announcement of the final outcome took place in Benin, with the Chairman of the election committee and Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu, presiding over the declaration.
