A violent confrontation between Yoruba and Hausa residents in the Oke-Ira community of Ogba, Lagos State, turned fatal on Friday morning, leaving one person dead.
According to Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, the altercation escalated into a riot, with one individual, identified as Abiodun Hassan, suffering fatal stab wounds to the chest.
“used knife to inflict open injury on the chest of one Abiodun Hassan,” Mr Hundeyin told Peoples Gazette, adding that the injured was rushed to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital where “he gave up the ghost.”
In response to the incident, two suspects, Nura Seyidu and Yusuf Abubakar, have been apprehended and are currently under investigation to determine their involvement in the murder and ensuing unrest.
The clash disrupted business activities and caused traffic congestion in the area for several hours, prompting a police patrol to restore peace and order.
