Tension gripped the National Secretariat of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as Philip Shauibu, Deputy Governor of Edo State, made a bold entrance, demanding his certificate of return.
Shauibu asserted his right to collect the certificate, stating, “Today is the day set aside for the collection of the certificate of return for the primary winner. I understand someone came yesterday and was given, well, the court will decide…”
MUK TV recalls that the National Working Committee of the PDP issued a certificate of return to Asue Ighodalo on Tuesday, following his declaration as the winner of the party’s primaries held on February 22 by Dauda Lawal, the governor of Zamfara and returning officer of the election.
Lawal announced that Ighodalo secured 577 votes, defeating other aspirants in the race. However, in a twisted turn of events, reports surfaced shortly after of another parallel election declaring Shaibu as the winner.
As uncertainty looms over the unfolding drama, all eyes are on the impending legal battle that could ensue
