In a groundbreaking medical achievement at the King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital in King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh, Nigeria-born conjoined twins, Hassana and Husaina, have been successfully separated.
Under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the remarkable surgery took place.
Mohammed Alsahabi, the Press Attache at the Saudi Arabia Embassy, revealed the milestone through a statement made available to newsmen on Friday.
The procedure, meticulously planned and executed by a dedicated team of medical professionals, began on Thursday morning and comprised nine stages over approximately 14 hours.
The twins, who arrived in Riyadh on October 31, 2023, underwent thorough examinations, revealing shared areas in the lower abdomen, pelvis, lower spine, and lower spinal nerves.
