The Aba Progressives Traders’ Club on Tuesday at Aba adopted the Senatorial candidate of the Action Peoples Party, APP, Signor Kanu as its sole candidate for the Abia South Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections.
In his speech during a scheduled visit to the Association, its President …… disclosed that they chose to endorse the candidature of Kanu because they were progressives who have understood the need to throw their weight behind a candidate of Ukwa extraction considering that the area has been marginalised for many years.
He said there was need to give Ukwa people a sense of belonging by supporting their candidate, particularly as the political bloc has been schemed out of the red Chamber in the last eight years.
The Chairman made a commitment to provide campaign materials, adding that they were prepared to galvanise residents of Aba to support the ambition of the Senatorial Candidate.
In his own speech, Kanu restated his pledge of ensuring that the Abia South Senatorial District would reap the dividend of democracy if elected.
He described the support of the Club as overwhelming, stressing that he would not disappoint them.
