The Abia state governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, has insisted that the state’s capital, Umuahia, does not have the requisite infrastructural design and edifice worthy of capital, while reiterating his commitment to remodeling the city when elected into office.
The governorship hopeful, who had earlier last year said the Umuahi city looks like a glorified village, maintained his stand that the city does not have a befitting outlook worthy of a capital.
He, therefore, expressed his desire to employ his real estate expertise to remodel the state capital with infrastructural development that flows into the neighboring areas of Ikwuano and Isiala Ngwa.
In his words, “It is my earnest desire to remodel the capital city of Umuahia to an international standard with infrastructural development that will flow into the Ikwuano and Isiala Ngwa axes and possibly connect it to Aba.”
The former Abia state Chief of Staff also reassured the people that his administration will revive the nightlife activities of the capital city, turning it into a bubbling 24-hour economy.
Speaking earlier, the APP candidate for the State House of Assembly, Umuahia North (Ohuhu)’s constituency, Chief (Hon.) Chris Akachukwu (Nwa-Abia), singled out his governorship candidate as the only one who has something different to offer among other contestants and expressed his confidence that he is going to be the best governor of the state.
On his part, the State Chairman of the APP, Elder (Hon.) Princewill Ukaegbu, urged the Abia state electorates of good conscience to respect the zoning formula of the state and vote for the APP’s governorship candidate, who is of Abia North extraction, and the remaining frontline candidate from the zone.
The APP campaign train visited three INEC wards in Umuahia North: Afugiri, Umuhu, and Isingwu.
