Members of the Labour Party (LP) in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State on Sunday said they have resolved to support the governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP) in the state, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu.

Hon. Kelechi Nwankwo, Chairman of the party who made this known to journalists on Sunday said the party endorsed the “ most prepared candidate” irrespective of party affiliation in the state.

According to him, the candidate to be voted for must come from Abia North Senatorial District, whose turn it is to produce the next governor of the state; an experienced personality from a Catholic background.

Mr. Nwankwo urged all LP members, supporters, and members of the Obidient team in Umunneochi to come out in their numbers on 18 March to vote for Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu of the APP.

He said that power returning to Abia North was sacrosanct, noting that it is the only way to ensure peace, justice, and fairness in the state.

He contended that the established zoning formula has brought peace and created a conducive environment for the rapid political and socio-economic development of the state.

He also urged them to vote for their conscience for the State House of Assembly seat of Umunneochi State Constituency.

He condemned the desperation of the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Alex Otti, saying: “We cannot hand over Abia to a desperate politician like Alex Otti to execute his vindictive agenda.

“Alex Otti is a desperado trying to ride on the popularity of Peter Obi to destroy Abia State. He is not a reliable person, too vindictive, authoritative, arrogant, and a sellout. Today he is from Arochukwu, tomorrow he is from Isialangwa. How can Abians trust such a desperate character?

“Alex Otti was part of those that destroyed Abia alongside T. A. Orji, today he is talking about fixing Abia; what is he coming to fix? Someone that the entire Ukwa la Ngwa have rejected cannot be accepted in Umunneochi.”
