The long-awaited ministerial list of President Bola Tinubu is expected to be submitted to the Senate this week by the president for onward screening, barring any last-minute change of plan.
MUK TV understands that the president, who is mandated by law to constitute his cabinet within 60 days of assuming office, is battling to beat the clock.
After Tinubu was inaugurated on May 29th and has spent 50 days in office, the president now has 10 days to forward his ministerial nominees to the National Assembly, as stipulated by law, leaving many Nigerians to puzzle over when he will do the needful.
However, sources in the presidency hinted that the list of ministerial nominees had long been compiled by the president but was delayed because of some necessary adjustments that needed to be made.
One of the sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said: “The list of ministerial nominees has been ready since, but the President has made some changes in some states.
“The list is expected to be forwarded to the National Assembly between Wednesday and Thursday unless there is any development that could delay it further.
“The President is supposed to constitute his cabinet by July 26. So, I am sure that the list will be sent to the Senate this week.”
Recall that different purported ministerial lists have been in circulation as the President keeps Nigerians guessing who would make the list and whether there will be a government of national unity, as speculated in some quarters.
The presidential spokesman, Mr. Dele Alake, recently said that only President Tinubu could decide when to submit the list of nominees to the National Assembly as well as those to make the list.
