The Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has urged members of the group who are responsible for the Monday sit-at-home exercise in the southeast region to stop it.
Speaking through his lead counsel, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), Kanu said the sit-at-home exercise is not in tandem with his belief, insisting he could not be shutting down the economy of his people, whom he is fighting for.
He highlighted the effect of the sit-at-home exercise on the social, economic, cultural, and political lives of the people, lamenting that it has put the Igbo under psychological, physical, and mental torture.
“I am now re-echoing again and again what Nnamdi Kanu told me: “He does not believe in that sit-at-home on Mondays,” which cripples the social, economic, cultural, and political life of the people, putting them under psychological, physical, and mental torture,” he said.
The enforcement of the sit-at-home order given by the self-acclaimed IPOB Prime Minister, Simon Ekpa, contributed to recent security challenges in the South East, with businesses, schools, and private and public institutions shut down for fear of attack.
