The Abia State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, the state’s capital, has dismissed the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) petition against Governor Alex Otti and the Labour Party (LP).

In a ruling on Friday, the tribunal presided over by Hon. Justice H. T. D. Gwadah said that the petitioners, the PDP, and others “failed in their three grounds and their petitions were dismissed for lack of merit.”

The PDP and its governorship candidate, Okey Ahiwe, had challenged Otti’s victory at the March 18 polls on three grounds, which included his non-qualification to contest the governorship, his non-membership of the LP, the provision of an authentic National Youth Service Corps certificate, and his inability to prove corrupt practices.
