The Department of State Security Service (DSS) has released the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, from detention.

The secret police’s Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, Peter Afunanya, confirmed the release of Mr. Bawa in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

He said the former EFCC chairperson was released on Wednesday night but failed to divulge more.

“SSS confirms the release of former EFCC chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa a few hours ago, today, Oct. 25,” he said.

It would be recalled that the former EFCC boss had been in detention at the DSS since June 14, after his suspension by the Federal Government.
