The Bauchi State Police Command is currently pursuing a native doctor, Danladi Ya’u of Damaiwa village, located in Bursali ward, Zaki Local Government Area (LGA), Bauchi State.

Ya’u is accused of fatally shooting Muhammadu Murtala Ali while attempting to test a bulletproof charm.

According to SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the spokesperson for the Bauchi Police Command, two individuals connected to this tragic incident have already been apprehended.

Wakil stated, “On 31/10/2023 at about 0830hrs, information received from the officer-in-charge of the Bursali Police Outstation under Zaki Division revealed that one Danladi Ya’u, aged 28, a native doctor, and three other accomplices (now at large) ventured into Damaiwa bush with the sole purpose of testing a protective charm on one Muhammadu Murtala Ali, aged 43, from the same location.

“During the process, Muhammadu Murtala was tragically shot with a locally made firearm by Danladi Ya’u.

“Upon receiving the report, a team of detectives, led by the DPO of Zaki, promptly responded, proceeded to the scene, and transferred the victim to the General Hospital in Jakusko, Yobe State, for medical care. Unfortunately, he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

“Furthermore, two suspects were immediately taken into custody, and efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the accomplices who fled the scene. The investigation is ongoing, and once completed, the defendants will face charges in court.”
