In a distressing incident in Ogun State, a 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted during an annual church event where she became intoxicated.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the occurrence in a statement on Friday.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, revealed that the victim’s mother reported the incident.
The mother recounted that, after her daughter got drunk during the church’s anniversary celebration on November 6, 2023, in Adubi, Ogun State, she had been left at a nearby bar shop, only to fall prey to a 32-year-old man named Gbenga Kolawole.
The victim has since been taken to Ore Ofe Hospital for medical attention, while Kolawole is under arrest for preliminary investigation, as disclosed by Odutola.
