Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Ebonyi, has advised Sen. Orji Kalu (APC–Abia North) to leverage his recent appeal court victory to consolidate his developmental strides in the Abia North Senatorial District.
Recall that as reported by MUK TV, the Court of Appeal, Lagos division, recently upheld Kalu as the duly elected senator for Abia North, affirming the judgment of the Abia State National and State Assembly Petition Tribunal that dismissed petitions from Nnamdi Iro and Mao Ohabunwa of the Labour Party (LP) the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), respectively, against him for lacking merit.
Speaking in Abakaliki, Okoro-Emegha emphasized that the court’s decision reflected the widespread support for Kalu among his constituents, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
“I hail from Ebonyi, and Kalu from Abia, but I submit that the appeal court justified the trust reposed in the judiciary by Nigerians. The Abia North constituents massively voted for Kalu, Chief Whip of the ninth Senate, and it has never been in doubt,” he said.
As a former aide to Kalu during his tenure as Abia governor, the APC chairman urged Kalu to capitalize on this opportunity to strengthen his influence in the Senate.
Chief Louis Elekwa, a businessman, echoed support for the ruling, highlighting the positive impact of Kalu’s effective representation on his community.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Juliet Nmereole, a teacher, encouraged Kalu not to be disheartened by his non-election as a principal officer in the present Senate.
