Professor Anthony Okorie Ani, a distinguished academic from the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Imo State, has secured the candidacy for Ebonyi South senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The APC primary election, held at the Afikpo North LGA council headquarters, saw heightened security measures to forestall any potential disturbances.
Ani, a native of Onicha Local Government Area, garnered strong support and emerged as the chosen candidate for the upcoming bye-election on February 4th, 2024, necessitated by David Umahi’s resignation to assume the position of Minister of Works.
Chairing the election, Mr. Akin Akin-Sehiinwa announced Ani’s victory with an impressive 281 votes out of 285 cast, solidifying his selection as the APC’s senatorial candidate in Ebonyi State.
Stanley Okoro Emegha, the state party chairman, stressed the fairness and transparency of the primary election, highlighting the strategic choice of Ani to ensure equitable representation across the zone’s five LGAs.
Expressing confidence in the upcoming bye-election, Ani affirmed his party’s readiness for a credible and victorious outcome.
