Musa Mustapha, former Transport and Energy Commissioner of Yobe state and the father-in-law of Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, Minister of Police Affairs, has secured victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for the upcoming Yobe East Senatorial by-election scheduled for February.

Fondly known as COOLERS, Mustapha triumphed over his opponent, Salisu Sanda, securing an overwhelming 356 votes out of the 357 accredited and cast votes at the elections.

Sanda received no votes in the contest, as reported by The Nation.

MUK TV reports that Mustapha’s bid to fill the vacant Yobe East Senatorial District seat, previously held by his son-in-law, who assumed the Minister of Police Affairs role under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marks a significant move within the APC ranks for Gaidam to consolidate his political influence in the state.

Recall that he is the immediate past governor of Yobe state, having served two-terms in office before transitioning to the Senate before resigning for a ministerial position.
